    Understanding the diverse PHEV purchase behaviors among prospective new car buyers is key for designing efficient and effective policies for promoting new energy vehicle technologies. The ORNL MA3T model developed for the U.S. Department of Energy is described and used to project PHEV purchase probabilities by different consumers. MA3T disaggregates the U.S. household vehicle market into 1458 consumer segments based on region, residential area, driver type, technology attitude, home charging availability and work charging availability and is calibrated to the EIA's Annual Energy Outlook. Simulation results from MA3T are used to identify the more likely PHEV buyers and provide explanations. It is observed that consumers who have home charging, drive more frequently and live in urban area are more likely to buy a PHEV. Early adopters are projected to be more likely PHEV buyers in the early market, but the PHEV purchase probability by the late majority consumer can increase over time when PHEV gradually becomes a familiar product.

  • 纯甲醇发动机冷起动系统开发
    针对甲醇汽化潜热大,蒸发困难,纯甲醇发动机冷起动困难的问题,开发了一套甲醇加热器来改善甲醇汽化问题。通过PTC热敏电阻加热片给蒸发器提供热量,使蒸发器温度升高。为防止初始加热电流过大,加热用的16个热敏电阻被分成4组,依次间隔30s通电加热。冷起动时控制PTC对甲醇蒸发器加热,当蒸发器内温度达到一定值后起动发动机。试验结果表明,环境温度1℃时,加热器加热到80℃以上即可实现甲醇机的顺利起动。
  • 车用发动机涡轮联合循环技术研究进展
    以涡轮增压、涡轮复合、涡轮组合3种联合循环技术为对象,分析了各自理论循环特点并指出:涡轮增压联合循环技术实现了底循环与顶部循环的初级联合,底循环用来加强顶部循环但不对外输出功率;涡轮复合联合循环技术实现了底循环与顶部循环的有机结合,底循环除用来完善顶部循环外还参与对外输出功率并达到了较高的能量利用效率;涡轮组合循环技术实现了底循环与顶部循环的组合运行,底循环与顶部循环之间实现了模块化组合运行,使动力输出模式可按车辆的需求而变化。总结了各项技术的最新研究成果并对车用发动机联合循环技术的发展方向进行了展望。

  • 基于车对车通信的安全应用程序概要文件的轻型汽车碰撞避免需求和对策
    This report discusses light-vehicle crash countermeasure profiles and functions for five target pre-crash scenario groups based on vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications. Target pre-crash scenario groups include rear-end, lane change, opposite direction, junction crossing, and left turn across path from opposite direction (LTAP/OD) crashes involving at least one light vehicle (e.g., passenger car, van, minivan, sport utility vehicle, or light pickup truck with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or less). There are 10 pre-crash scenarios in these groups to be addressed by V2V-based crash countermeasures. Kinematic equations are presented for the time-to-collision and avoidance maneuvers to identify information needs for these crash countermeasures. Information needs are translated into countermeasure functional requirements based on relevant safety applications devised in two prior research projects dealing with cooperative V2V communications and autonomous vehicle-based sensing systems. This report identifies two target pre-crash scenarios that would require new safety applications not developed in prior projects, including the LTAP/OD and opposite direction/no vehicle maneuver pre-crash scenarios.
