Plastic film packaging is also preferred by the F&B industry as its attractiveness aids in promotions. It is used by other industries for the packaging of various products, such as automotive parts, industrial goods, pharmaceutical products, and other consumer goods. The various materials used in the manufacturing of packaging films are BoPET, BOPP, cellulosic, CPP, EVOH, HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, PVC, PVDC, PVOH, and polyamide.

Silica gel, one of the specialty silica and a form of silicon dioxide, is prepared commercially by the acidification of sodium silicate.
